Today I met ANNA HAJARE at RaleganSiddhi.

Still he is feeling a bit weak.

As per my observation he will take at least another 8 days to recover completely.

We were together for more than 2 hours.

We talked a lot about past & future, everything under the Sun! Vijay Kuvalekar ji was integral part of this meeting.

Nobody else was there in Anna's room then during this meeting of ours.

Anna prefers isolation now a days engrossed in thoughts about future strategies.

I will assure you that many socio-political Tsunamis are awaited from that room in the future.

Wait...& watch !!

Anna , Second independence & Common me........

Dear Friends,

This letter dated 13th October 2010 before Anna Hazare started his earlier agitation.

This letter is from Anna Hazare to me in which he has mentioned me as his first Satyagrahi.

I know him closely which this letter describes and illustrates and is self-explanatory. He is a man of convictions, paradoxical like life. He is fom different world.

Every Indian citizen including me is deprived from his comfort zone in this system which he is seeking eagerly and greedily. Whereas, Anna Hazare is a idealistic person living and exploring his own world where justice can be done, equity and equality could be bridged. When he asked me to become his first satyagrahi from that day to this movement when Anna has become the icon of the idealistic world I always thought that in this country, all of us including me are directly and indirectly immoral and corrupt by default as a legacy of 64 years of Independence.

Even today our Anna is leading the whole nation and world as well. I personally don't feel that this system doesn't allow me to be a non-corrupt atleast in indirect way. So 10 months back what I have thought when Anna chose me as his first satyagrahi that I won't be able to lie to myself about truth of myself.

I haven't changed my opinion even today when whole country is sort of hysteric and euphoric about Anna's movement. I have been privileged to get love and warmth from personalities like Anna and Vijay Tendulkar. But what I feel today is that I should be honest with myself that I want corruption-free world of Anna's dream but the paradox is as an Indian I want to exclud ine myself from this utopian world in struggle of day-to-day life in this society.

I SALUTE ANNA HAZARE FOR AWAKENING SPIRIT OF VIBRANT DEMOCRACY IN INDIA'S SOUL AND MIND BUT I WANT TO BE TRUE TO MYSELF I WAS ALWAYS INDIRECTLY AND RELATIVELY A PART OF CORRUPT AND IMMORAL ACT OF THE SOCIETY AND PEOPLE. IT COULD BE RELATIVE BUT I AM TRYING TO BE HONEST TO MYSELF.

I CAN'T ASSURE ON THIS HISTORIC DAY OF ANNA'S SPIRIT THAT I CAN AVOID THIS INDIRECT AND RELATIVE RELATIONS OF MINE WITH GREY PART OF MY NATION. I AM SURPRISED THAT EVERYBODY IN THIS MOVEMENT ARE COMMITTING THAT THEY WERE NEVER EVER PART OF CORRUPT PART OF SOCIETY DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

I WISH THEM A GREAT SUCCESS IN THEIR MORAL AND ABSOLUTE NON-CORRUPT FUTURE LIFE. I ALSO WANT FUTURE INDIAN SOCIETY TO BE ABSOLUTELY NON-CORRUPT.

I AM EXPLORING IT BUT NOT REACHED MY DESTINATION. TODAY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE DECLARED THAT THEY HAVE REACHED THERE. MY SALUTE TO THEM AND ONE SMALL QUESTION,

'HOW THEY HAVE REACHED WHERE I AM STILL STRUGGLING A LOT TO REACH?'

रामदेवबाबांचे अहंकारासन - (माझा आजचा लोकप्रभामधील DTox)
अण्णांच्या लोकलढय़ाला मिळालेला प्रतिसाद आणि माध्यमांची साथ ही रामदेवबाबांच्या अहंकाराला प्रदीप्त करणारी ठरली. रामदेवबाबा अण्णांचं उपोषण संपल्यापासून चुळबुळू लागले. त्यांना काहीतरी केल्याशिवाय स्वस्थ बसणं शक्यच नव्हतं. त्यातूनच त्यांनी प्रस्तावित चार जूनचं नवं भ्रष्टाचारविरोधी उपोषण जाहीर केलं.

गोतम बुद्ध हे अस्तित्व असलेल्या ब्रम्हांडाच्या इतिहासातले एकमेवाद्वितीय पुरुष होते. ज्यांनी दु:ख आहे, दु:खाच कारण आहे, दु:खापासून मुक्तीचा मार्ग आहे हे सांगितलं. विपस्सना करताना जाणवतं की दु:खापासून मुक्तीचा मार्ग हा महापंडित, महाप्रज्ञ आणि महाविद्वान असूनही शंकराचार्यांना सांगता आला नाही. अर्थात त्यामुळे त्यांच्या मोठेपणा अजिबात कमी होत नाही. मला त्यांच्याबद्दल आदर हा आहेच.

भारताच्या भूमीत तथागत बुद्ध हे एक कमळाच फुल म्हणून उगवलेत. ते एक असे बुद्ध-पुरुष होते ज्यांनी सारं पांडित्य नाकारून सामान्यातल्या सामान्य माणसाला हीं बुद्ध-पुरुष होता येईल किंबहुना त्यासाठीच त्याचा जन्म झाला आहे हा मार्ग मोकळा करून दिला. उपनिषदांमध्ये हा मार्ग काही प्रमाणात आलेला आहे. पण तो अपौरुषेय आहे. तथागत बुद्धांचा मार्ग भारताबाहेर रुजला पण तो भारताबाहेर हद्दपार केला गेला.(ते नववे अवतार आहेत हे सगळे झुठ आहे). हा मार्ग जिथे जिथे गेलाय ते सगळेच देश आज समृध्धीच्या शिखरावर आहेत हा एक योगायोग आहे आणि मला यातून काही हीं सुचवायचे नाही.

तथागत हे भौतिक जगातल्या भौतिक समस्यांना भिडून त्यातून मुक्त होण्याचा आत्मिक मार्ग सांगणारे एकमेव पुरुष होते आणि या अर्थाने ते एकमेवच होते. एवढेच नव्हे तर संघ, बुद्ध, धम्म यांविषयी चर्चा करणे , त्यात सुधारणा करणे हे तथागत बुद्धांना मान्य होते आणि असे करणारे ते एक प्रेषित म्हणूनच भूतलावर होऊन गेले. याबद्दल अनेक दाखले मी आपणास देऊ शकतो पण काल-स्थलांअभावी मी ते आत्ता इथे देणार नाही. ते ज्याचे त्याने हवे असल्यास शोधून काढावे.

हिंदू हा धर्म नसून अनेक पंथांचा ते एक एकत्रीकरण आहे. या विषयी खूप चर्चा होऊ शकते पण ती करण्याची हीं जागा नव्हे. या पंथान्विषयी कोणताही अनादर तथागत बुद्धांनी दाखवला नाही. मला हीं तो अधिकार नाही आणि मी तो दाखवणार हीं नाही. याविषयी विस्तृत चर्चा होऊ शकते पण याला अंत नाही. यामुळे आपल्याला मन:शांती मिळणार आहे का आणि यामुळे आपल्या मनातली असुरक्षितता दूर होणार आहे का हे प्रश्न आहेत. कोण बरोबर आणि कोण चूक याबद्दल पूर्वग्रह ठेऊन वाद घातल्याने आपला अहंकार सुखावतो आणि हा अहंकार सुखावण्याच्या तथागत हे विरोधात होते.

मी जे वचन येथे टाकले होते ते "स्वतःचे दीप स्वतः बना" या तथागतांच्या भावनेने टाकलेले होते. ज्याने ते पटेल त्याने ते घ्यावे आणि ज्याला ते पटणार नाही त्याने स्वतःच्या अहंकारात दंग राहावे. मग तो अहंकार कुठल्याही बाजूचा असो.

आता अपरिहार्य म्हणून हा मुद्दा लिहितो अन्यथा या वादामध्ये मला पडायचे नव्हते.

स्वामी विवेकानंद हे रामकृष्ण परमहंसांचे सेंट पॉल होते. त्यांना संपूर्ण बुद्ध-पुरुषाचा दर्जा देणे हे शक्य आहे का हे ज्याचे त्यानेच ठरवायचे आहे. हे लिहित असताना मी संपूर्णपणे चुकीचा असू शकतो हे मान्य करण्याची माझी तयारी आहे. पण या विषयाचा नीट अभ्यास केल्यावर मला हेच आढळून आले आणि त्यात गैर ते काय? सेंट पॉल हे सुद्धा संतच होते. रामकृष्ण परमहंसांनी मानवाच्या मुक्तीचा मार्ग सांगितला नसून आत्माच्या उन्नतीचा मार्ग सांगितलेला आहे. आणि हा फरक फार गहन आहे. शेवटी ज्याला जिथे जायचं आहे तो तीथेच जाणार. समुद्र समोर असला तरी आपल्याजवळ भांडे जेवढे आहे तेवढेच पाणी आपण भरू शकतो.

हीं वचने येथे टाकत असताना माझा जो हेतू होता तो पूर्ण असफल झाला. हीं वचने टाकत असताना मला अद्वैत अपेक्षित आहे, द्वैत नाही.

शेवटी एकच, भौतिक जगात सुद्धा का होईना भारताच्या तिरंग्यावरच अशोक चिन्ह आणि भारताचा चार सिंहाचा राजदंड हा तथागतांचा शिष्य असलेल्या राजा अशोकाचा आहे शिवाय भारताच्या राज्यघटनेच्या मसुदा समितीचे अध्यक्ष असलेले डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर हे तथागत बुद्धांना शरण गेले होते हीं गोष्ट भौतिक जगात तथागातांचे काय स्थान आहे हे अप्रत्यक्षरीत्या स्पष्ट करते.

शेवटच मुद्दा असा आहे की मी धर्म बदलला आहे का? अस कोणीतरी या चर्चेदरम्यान मला विचारले आहे. मला धर्म होताच कुठे? मी एक जनावर आहे आणि यश मिळवणं हे जवळजवळ अशक्य आहे हे माहिती असतानाहीं बुद्ध-पुरुष होण्याची धडपड करतो आहे.खरतर धर्म हीं गोष्ट अस्तित्वगत नाही. म्हणजे अस्तित्वाबरोबर येणारी नाही. जन्माला आल्यावर जर मला एका खोलीत कोंडून ठेवलं असतं आणि तिथे धर्म सोडून मला जर इतर सर्व गोष्टींचे ज्ञान दिले गेले असते आणि आज ४० वर्षांनी जर खोलीबाहेर काढून जर मला विचारलं असत तर मला धर्म म्हणजे नेमक काय हे सांगता आल नसतं. या उलट मी कोण आहे हा प्रश्न अस्तित्वात आहे. तो प्रश्न प्रत्येक क्षणी त्या बंद खोलीत हीं मला पडला असता. एक जनावर म्हणून , एक प्राणी म्हणून एक अस्तित्व म्हणून धर्म आपण ज्या अर्थाने वापरतो(शरीर धर्म नव्हे) ती आपल्या बापाच्या क्रोमोझोन मधून आलेली(त्याने ठरवलेली) सरकारी फॉर्मवर लिहिण्याची आणि हृदयसम्राटांच्या मागे लावण्याची, सामाजिक व राजकीय गोष्ट आहे. याचा मानवी किंवा प्राणीमात्राच्या अस्तित्वाशी काडीमात्र हीं संबंध नाही.

बुद्ध म्हणजे कुणी व्यक्ती नव्हे तर ति एक अवस्था आहे. तःथागत गोतमांना ती प्राप्त झाली होती. आपणा सर्वांना ती प्राप्त होवो हीं माझी इच्छा आहे. आपण सर्व माझ्यावर प्रेम करणारे तसेच माझा द्वेष करणारे हीं सर्वजण माझ्याच आत्म्याचा भाग आहात. त्यामुळे माझे जे म्हणून काही आत्मिक आहे ते या क्षणी मी आपल्या सर्वांना वाटून टाकतो. आपण कृपया त्याचा स्वीकार करावा. बुद्ध, धम्म, संघ, मी आणि कुणीही प्राणीमात्र वेगळे नाहीत.

या वादामध्ये सामील झालेल्या सर्वांना बुद्धत्व प्राप्त होवो या प्रेमपूर्वक इच्छेने मी आपला निरोप घेतो.

My Monologue before the Yatra

Currently I am in Mauritius & from here I will go to France for some lectures.

Every minute N every second I am thinking here about Naujawan Bharat Abhiyan & about the Yatra & correspondingly about Maharashtra. Maharashtra is just a beginning of this yatra. The whole nation needs to be explored & this is a need of an hour.

I mean to say that I am exploring myself & I need my exploration too.

We are one of the biggest nations in the world, population wise & natural resources wise. But we are the poorest in the world, self-respect wise & in every course of life we are lagging behind even after 64 yrs of independence.

We are ruled by administration & politicians who are semi-mafias’ & semi-goons either or are associated directly with these types of elements. ‘Haves not’ are more than 80 to 85 % in India.

Our policymakers & politicians show a GDP rate & growth rate which is an absolute fraud. Actually these number ‘on-paper’ is an average no of 4 to 40000 ‘more than equal’ family’s wealth where wealth-less 85% Indians are never ever considered at all.

Seriously speaking we are not a biggest democracy in the world but we are a greatest authoritarian system in the world which is slowly moving towards decline & fall & absolute anarchy. No sensitive intelligence from the International community can ever challenge this statement of mine& if at all anybody challenges me for the same I am always ready to answer on any platform.

Even country like Mauritius, now I am in, gives 40 paisa to our one rupee in exchange. Those who were lagging far behind us have now gone far ahead than us. They are now in the first world & still we are in the third world.

The DYNASTY rules this country & there is absolute neo-feudalism & absolute corruption from top to bottom. This made us a third rate country & third world country in every walk of life for example in every field of sports (our poor performance in Olympics).

From economy to culture or to even to education, we are not respected worldwide because once upon a time countries like China, Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius etc. were lagging behind us & were looking at us as a leader of Asia but now they are reaching the class of super power & we are still just a developing country.

Our semi-mafia rulers & the policymakers made us bankrupt in every field. We have no respect in Asia as it was earlier. Even Malaysia cancelled the ‘visa on arrival’ facility for Indians because of this kind of attitude. Our ministry of external affairs is just a showpiece & nothing else because if there is nothing in the godown how there could be anything in the showroom.

We have simply wasted the supreme sacrifices of Bhagatsingh, SubhashChandra Bos & many other martyrs. Today we have merely 2 choices; either we will disintegrate because of incapable dynastic rule in every field of life. This was not the for sure the dream of Bhagat singh , Subhashbabu or even of the father of the nation Gandhiji. Where has gone their sons, & grandsons & grand-grand sons & daughters. They never demanded cost of scarifies of their forefathers. Or the other choice before us would be to fight against all these anti-national forces which portray themselves as national-forces which is pseudo in reality.

From peon to the first house of this nation or the part thereof is part of the corrupt system & we are disintegrated because of this difference between ‘haves’ & ‘have not’s’ & the anarchist type of the system of the rulers.

Do u want to see this fall & the decline of our great nation or do you want to fight against these elements (because you have only one chance in your only life) or be a part of the system where father of the nation & his ideology is fixed up simply on the currency & we all forgot him & those who have money & power have forgotten his idea of trusteeship as well.

Choice is yours.

This is a monologue. I am speaking to myself & not to you.

Further, though it’s a monologue this is my appeal to the entire International Indian community to save India. You know what godown showcases & I am portraying the real godown, stark reality behind it.

Save India before it declines from semi-mafias rulers (very few are exceptions), goons, new feudal lords, incapable dynastic leadership in every field of life, cleverly hided deadly poverty & absolute corruption in health, education & the judicial system.

This is Mahatma Gandhi’s dream for one more freedom-fight.

Just sharing my exploration with you, will come back to you with my book “what is to be done, Part 1” as I have promised earlier.

Namaskar ...

My birthday in December will mark the beginning of my state wide tour in Maharashtra.

My aim is to highlight the poor condition in Maharashtra and try to find answers to the many questions prevalent in our state.

As of now I am in retrospective mode, exploring my thoughts and enlightening myself. But I am reading and considering every suggestion thoroughly though I won’t be able to answer them. Please do not stop your unilateral communication with me for ultimately at the beginning of the yatra it will turn bi-lateral.

At present I will not comment on Government, system, Sharad Pawar to Raj Thackeray or for that matter any polititian , male or female, remarks, criticism and praises alike on network sites or react to the expletives hurled at me.

One and a half month later I will come out with a book titled ‘What is to be done? Part 1’ in English and Marathi simultaneously. It will contain a brief of my understanding, enlightenment and my exploration within and answers to the many questions that have been plaguing my mind and yours (except for the abuses hurled at me).

This will be my first step towards the onset of my journey.

I hope to clear all your doubts before I embark upon my tour. Till then you have the liberty to form an opinion about me as freedom is forever and I am mortal. This is my belief and even if it waivers for a moment it is ‘the’ truth.

डिसेंबर च्या माझ्या वाढदिवसाच्या दरम्यान जी राज्य-व्यापी यात्रा मी महाराष्ट्रामध्ये फिरणार आहे आणि ज्यातून महाराष्ट्राचे बकाल स्वरूप आणि जे प्रश्न मी जाणून घेणार आहे त्या बाबत मी सध्या माझा आतला आवाज ऐकून चिंतन करतो आहे.

व्यवस्था, सरकार, शरद पवार ते राज ठाकरे किंवा कोणताही राजकीय पुरुष किंवा स्त्री या व्यतिरिक्त नेटवरून मला देण्यात येणाऱ्या शिव्या, स्तुती आणि विचारणा या व याव्यतिरिक्त कुठल्याही बाबीवर मी तूर्तास लेखी किंवा तोंडी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त करणार नाही.

साधारण दीड महिन्यानी "काय केले पाहिजे - भाग १ " मराठी मध्ये आणि "what is to be done - Part 1" हे इंग्लिश मध्ये माझ्या सध्याच्या चिंतनाचे सार मी पुस्तकरूपाने प्रसिद्ध करीन ज्यात या सर्व प्रश्नांची उत्तरे मिळतील (मला घातलेल्या निरर्थक शिव्यांची सोडून).

ते या यात्रेचे पहिले पाउल असेल.

ते पुस्तक प्रसिध्द करून आणि सर्वांच्या सर्व शंका मिटवूनच मी यात्रेला सुरुवात करेन.

तोपर्यंत माझाबद्दल ज्याला जे समजायचं आहे त्याने ते समजाव कारण स्वातंत्र्य चिरायू आहे आणि मी मर्त्य आहे यावर माझा विश्वास आहे किंवा मी विश्वास ठेवला नाही तरीही ते खरेच आहे !

यातलं अत्यंत महत्वाच म्हणजे जरी मी उत्तर देत नसलो तरी ही मला येणार्या प्रत्येक प्रतिक्रियेची नोंद मी ठेवत आहे, त्यामुळे आपण प्रतिक्रिया देणे थांबवू नये.

ही शेवटची संधी आहे,

तुम्हाला यायचं असेल तर या ..

येत्या ४ डिसेंबर ला मी ४१ वर्ष पूर्ण करत आहे ज्याला अजून ६ महिने आहेत.

हे सहा महिने मी स्वतःचा शोध घेत आहे.

६ महिन्यांनंतर म्हणजेच ४ डिसेंबर च्या दरम्यान गडचिरोली पासून सुरुवात करून मुंबई पर्यंत महाराष्ट्राचे ३७५ तालुके मी पायाखाली घालणार आहे.

शक्यतोवर सार्वजनिक वाहनाने आणि शक्य नसेल तिथे खाजगी वाहनाने. महाराष्ट्राचा खरया अर्थाने 'शोध आणि बोध' मी या सगळ्यातून घेणार आहे.
एकापरीने तो माझ्या स्वतःचाच शोध आणि बोध असणार आहे.
त्यानंतर २३ मार्च २०११ रोजी, ज्या दिवशी भगतसिंग यांना लाहोर येथे फासावर चढवण्यात आले त्या दिवशी मी माझ्या 'नौजवान भारत अभियाना' ला सुरुवात करणार आहे.

२३ मार्च २०११ रोजी "काय केले पाहिजे?" (What is To Be Done) हे पुस्तक मी प्रकाशित करणार आहे ज्याचा शोध मी आजपासून सुरु केला आहे.

माझ्या सत्याचा हा प्रवास मी भारताचे अखेरचे सत्यवादी श्री अण्णा हजारे यांना अर्पण करतो.

या अभियानात सामील होऊ पाहणार्या कोणत्याही व्यक्तीला इतर कुठल्या ही पक्षाचे अथवा संघटनेचे सदस्य राहता येणार नाही.
या अभियानात अश्या प्रकारची दुहेरी निष्ठा ठेऊन येणाऱ्या माणसांना स्थान नाही. असे करू पाहणार्या लोकांनी आपण असे करून आपल्याच पुढच्या पिढ्यांचा घात करत आहोत असे समजावे.
हेच विष आपण पुढच्या पिढ्यांना पाजणार का हाच खरा प्रश्न आहे.त्याचे उत्तर शोधणे हेच या अभियानाचे खरे उद्दिष्ट्य आहे.

Writing is in my blood.

For me writing is passion, an expression I use to percolate my thoughts in black and white.

When I write I channelize my energies positively and I see to it that my writings motivate people to think in the right direction.

I hope writing is an instrument to bring a revolutionary change.

At the same time I feel that I am utopian!

Raja Shivaji and Emperor Aurangazeb.

I attribute my existence to Raja Shivaji as he was a great ruler who started with a scratch and built an empire on the basis of his courage, intellect, determination and persistent nature.

He did all this in a short span of his 50 years of life. He left a mark on the history of World.

As a Commander-in-Chief, ruler, King and Thinker he was unparalleled in the history of world. As a "Marathi manoos" I owe him my life.

What Maharashtra is today is because of Raja Shivaji.

At his time Mughal Empire was the biggest empire in the world. Aurangazeb had to struggle hard to become a ruler.

He was a fearless man, possessed a transparent character and deadly strategist.

His simplicity as an emperor is unparalleled till this date. He had a clarity of goal, understanding the nature of power and ruthlessness at times was his strength which and I admire and cherish.

He was one of his kinds in history of world and the great emperors of his time. Though people dislike him, very few know him and understand him.

Raja Shivaji was the only ruler of his era who understood Aurangazeb and defeated him strategically in the long run.

I recently did a show for SAAM TV titled 'Maharashtra Konacha'.

On this show top political leaders were called in and I asked them what Maharashtra meant for them, their plans for Maharashtra and how they envisioned Maharashtra.

I received varied answers and opinions from them.

The leaders who graced my show were Ex-Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Ex-Deputy Chief Minister R.R Patil, Deputy Chief-Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Shiv Sena Executive Prseident Udddhav Thackeray, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and BJP National General Secretary Gopinath Munde.

In the second last episode Anna Hazare, a known social-activist was invited who commented on each and every leader who had graced the show.

The last episode I summed up with my analysis.

But you haven't heard the last from me.

Very soon I will be back with fresh episodes of 'Maharashtra Konacha' with more grandeur and a different look and perspective.

Biographical Note

Raju Parulekar born on December 4, 1968 at Vengurla.

I took my honors in ICWA.

Later went on to pursue a Diploma in Journalism & Mass Communication and simultaneously began writing for newspapers and magazines.

In 1994-95 did a fellowship with Oxfam and wrote a paper on ‘Sugarcane Cutters’.

Since then I have worked with many National-International organizations as a Political Analyst.

My brief stint with Fiction on television was a huge success as I wrote Story, screenplay and Dialogues for daily television soap and short stories and Films.

Have also written columns for major newspapers, Saamna, Maharashtra Times, Loksatta, Mahanagar, Lokprabha in the capacity of Political Analyst.

Have penned written daily columns in Mumbai Times on Saturday, Maharashtra Times, Saamna, Sakaal in the capacity of Political Annalyst and a comment on Social Situations.

In 2002, daily show ‘Sanvad’ went on air on ETV Marathi, where I hosted the show and also took care of the research. The show has completed more then 2500 episodes and is still running successfully.
Here, I interact with people who have done extraordinary work in their fields but who are not in limelight.

In 2003, honored with Loksatta Yuvonmesh Award.

In 2004 felicitated at Shaniwar wada cultural fest in Pune for exemplary work in the field of writing.

In 2006, my book ‘Ideas are Dangerous’ received the State Award for best book of the year.

July, 2008, Rashtragaurav Puraskar conferred by Influx Foundation for exemplary work in field of Journalism.

August 2008, Acharya Atre Puraskar for contribution in literary field.

Books by Me

I have to my credit two books ‘Ideas are Dangerous’ and ‘Manasa Bhetleli Na Bhetleli’, of which the first book remarks on the socio-political situation in Maharashtra and the later speaks about various dignitaries whom I have met sometime in my life and whom I have never met but have left a mark on me.

At present I am involved with 'SAAM' television as a Consultant Editor.
Its a new info-entertainment channel belonging to the 'Sakaal Group of Newspapers.

About 'Sanvad'

'Samvad' for those who came in late, is an interview based daily breakfast show on ETV Marathi, telecast at 8.00 am.

It all started with a phone call from my friend Mr. Uday Narkar on one July afternoon. He had a rough concept in his mind about the show but he wanted me to host it. I immediately went down to the studio and after exchange of few ideas we chalked the final draft of 'Sanvad'.

I was a bit apprehensive about my appearance on television but after persuasion and a little push I was ready to play the part.

I soon realised the camera loved me and I loved the camera in return. A bond was formed between us. The lens was like a mirror. He was blatantly honest with me and I loved him for that.

Since then I have romanced the lens for the last seven years.

When before the camera I am at ease and I put my guests at ease.

'Sanvad' has successfully completed 3100 episodes and it went off air on 5th Jan 2009. All good things come to an end. But Sanvad will remain forever in everyone's heart. The last seven years were a memorable one for me. The show received a tremendous response as people from all walks of life shared their experiences, passion and their achievements. They poured their hearts out and viewers adored them for that. Top political leaders, Scientists, Writers, Mathematicians, Social- Activists, Entrepreneurs and Common men trudging a less traveled path graced the show.

It recieved many accolades and awards like the RAPA award. 'Sanvad' took me closer to the mass, communicated on one to one basis and gave me honor and appreciation by one and all. 'Sanvad' and Raju Parulekar became synonymous.

'Sanvad' was made memorable by the people who sat in the opposite chair.

It is a record as one single person was instrumental in interviewing such a long list of celebrities and non-celebrities in one program. I have wonderful memories which I am going to share with you through my blog.

Tendulkar (Baba) and Me

My association with baba (Vijay Tendulkar), dates back to the 90's when i moved from one place to another with nothing but a haversack on my back.

Then I was involved with Oxfam and was in midst of completing my fellow-ship on Sugarcane-cutters of Maharashtra.

I remember my first meeting with Baba happened when we were introduced by a common friend Shri. Gangal at Baba's friend's house in Girgaum. He had come across my article in a magazine and wanted to meet me. I went over and then it turned out to be a long association full of warmth and love.

He was a family to me.

A mentor who stood by me, guided me, at times disagreed with my views, adamant and strong on the stand he took, vulnerable but firm when he lost his only son Raju, later lost his doting daughter Priya who incidentally was my close friend, then the loss of his wife.

All these tragedies in a row would have broken any other person but baba accepted them as a part of the life cycle.

In spite of all this he never stopped writing.

Pain was his strength and in pain lay his thoughts.

His death is a big loss to the literary world but also a great personal loss to me.
